
Training for Students and Chefs
Restaurant industry professionals play a crucial role in building a more sustainable food system. By sourcing ingredients from local producers, designing seasonal menus, and shaping new culinary trends, they help drive the transition toward responsible food practices.
To support this shift, the GrowLIFE team will new educational content into the Technological Specialisation Courses at the 12 Tourism and Hospitality Schools of Turismo de Portugal. This module will provide students—the future professionals of the restaurant industry—with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate sustainability into their work. It will be available for students of :
- Restaurant and Beverage Management
- Kitchen Management and Production
- Pastry Management and Production
As part of this training, students will gain practical experience through:
Visits to Sustainable Farms
To understand eco-friendly farming and distribution practices, including hands-on activities like sowing, tending, and harvesting.
Collaboration with Local Farmers
To identify seasonal ingredients that can be used to create sustainable recipes.
This competency unit will be included in the National Agency for Qualification and Professional Education (ANQEP) catalogue as part of the Technological Specialisation Courses at Turismo de Portugal’s schools.
Additionally, professional training courses will be available in the Portuguese Executive Training Catalogue.
