Participatory Visits to Sustainable Farms
These visits are designed for producers who are interested in making their practices more sustainable. They will have the opportunity to visit farms that have successfully adopted agroecological methods. The goal is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences among producers, enabling them to adopt sustainable practices that suit their own unique contexts.
Each visit will be structured around four key activities:
— A guided tour of the host farm, highlighting the sustainable agricultural practices in use;
— A workshop focused on a topic of interest to the producers;
— A group discussion, allowing participants to share challenges related to implementing sustainable practices and to identify practical solutions together;
— A tasting session featuring products from the host farm.
Objectives
— To foster peer-to-peer discussions on sustainable farming practices and short supply chains, and to explore their environmental, social, and economic impacts.
— To raise awareness about the importance of creating resource-efficient communities – those with low carbon footprints and strong resilience to climate change.
— To empower farmers interested in sustainable agriculture by facilitating the exchange of knowledge and building a long-term network of contacts and support among producers.
— To halt and reverse biodiversity loss, and to protect, restore, and enhance soil health in agroecosystems..
The GrowLIFE project is collaborating with 14 sustainable producers to organise these visits and provide support to fellow farmers.
